Here is a photo....

Part of the carnage.....
Part of the aftermath (self portrait)....lost some skin....some of the damage can't be posted on the net...having some rotator cuff issues and I think I have whiplash!
The war story still to come. Haven't had time since the race to sit down and write anything.

Lisa -

I've been watching your development over the past year or so, even though you might not have realized it. I'm so proud of you and your accomplishments. Congrats on everything!

I watched you go down with the bike wreck on Monday, and my heart sank for you. The carnage looks painful, but well worth it I bet. Nothing a little TLC and maybe some chiro won't fix up.

Cheers, and best of luck with your future endeavours.

OMG....that's pretty bad! Hope it heals quickly with no scaring.

Question, is that painted blue cement or some type of carpet around the loop?

You and Kyle have to get together and share/compare 'war stories'. Both of you picked yourselves up and finished your races, pretty gutsy...

Lisa! I see a little smile coming out in that photo... it looks like you are doing good and HAVE YOUR FOCUS on something else, let me guess, a come back in London 2012!

Hope the whip lash leaves you alone and the wounds heal soon!

I hope you get some rest and focus on getting fully recovered. Perhaps it is not as bad as you think, and you will bounce back to normal quickly. If you are still in Beijing, please cheer on the Chinese Taipei Taekwondo team. They need a lot of encouragement, but at least have a chance.

OUCH! That is nasty, you definitely couldn't see that on the video! In my poor dutch and a free online translator I read in a dutch interview that you plan to speak better dutch in 2012... you'll have to tell your loyal readership that story too ;P

Truth be told, it looks kind of like a funky tattoo. Art or not, that must have smart!!! I for one am thankful you're still in one piece--judging from the first picture that fall was nasty!

Good old road rash. The good thing is that it will give you some time off to fully recover. The bad thing is that it HURTS!

Looking forward to "the rest of the story"

Lisa;

Congratulations on a brilliant effort in your race. The bike crash had us hoping that you weren't involved but alas the replay confirmed our fears. However you showed up on the position ribbon again and we watched you bring it home. Great perserverance. I have to agree with the previous tatoo comment. They're in style now you know.

I tried to see your mom and dad in the crowd but no such luck. Hope to see you sometime in the future.

Hey lisa,

Just got home from holidays but managed to watch the race on the small hotel TV. I was heartsick to see that you were in the bike crash but my heart soared when I saw that you finished. That is the spirit that got you to the Olympics and that is the spirit that will take you to London in 2012 if that is your choice. I can not say enough how proud I am to tell every one that my niece raced in the Olympics! Your tenacity and courage are inspiring. I agree with Bree, there is a smile coming out in your picture, keep smiling.

Lisa, congratulations on your race. We were watching avidly and not quite sure if you were in the pile up until we watched the replay. After reading your comments on your injuries it is truly amazing that you were able to finish. Way to persevere! Incredible effort!
